The Library of the Cervantes Institute in Prague bears the name of the Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes and since 2006 has been a specialised centre which focuses on providing information, items and references related to the language and culture of Spain and other Spanish speaking countries.

Stock

Our collection contains approximately 20 000 freely accessible items with a particular focus on literature, didactics of Spanish language teaching and audio-visual materials, publications in co-official languages; there is also a local collection of works by Spanish and Latin American authors translated into Czech and Czech works translated into Spanish.

Access and opening hours

In order to access the library you need to be in possession of a membership card. The fee is determined by the type of user and library; the card may be obtained either during the opening hours of the library or using an electronic form.

    • Electronic sources: reference sources, bibliographical database, press and digital periodicals, etc.

  • Recommended publications section – aimed directly at students of Charles University studying for bachelor and master degrees and other study programmes.
