Unknown part of the Pilsen history in 1945 – talk with author Jiří Friedl I within the Liberation Festival 2016

The book SOLDIERS – OUTLAWS by Jiří Friedl, historian, The Institute of History CAS descibes unusual military advance of polish troup resistence – Holycross Brigades of National armoured forces, and reveals to readers an interesting grey area within the final part of the Second World War in Czechoslovak teritory.
How more than thousands of armoured men managed to pass through occupated territories all the way to West Bohemia? Why did they decide for this march to west? And how did they develop relations with Czech inhabitants? The Holycross Brigades story shows us the tragedy and complicated geopolitical situation in the middle of Europe, which was suffering by two totalitarian regimes.
Talk with author is co-organised by Education and Research Library of Pilsen Region, The Institute of History and Polish Institut in Prague.
The book will be distributed during the talk. It is possible to order it in advance in The Institute of History.
