Exhibition opening
We have been celebrating the victory over Nazism for many years during the Liberation Festival Pilsen and reconstruction of our independence after the end of World War II. But before the reconstruction of the Czechoslovakia, it had to firstly come into existence as a free and independent state. This could have hapenned because of Czechoslovakian foreign and home resistance during the World War I. The important step towards the independence was the battle of Zborovo. We are reminding 100th years anniversary of this battle this year.
The exhibition shows the course of World War I., which was called „a big war“ before the World War II. with an attention to Czechoslovakian legions on russian, french, italian and serbian battlefield.

The battle of Zborovo took place 1.-2. July 1917 and even though it did not influence the further course of the war, it was very important for the Czechoslovakian legion and its further development. Czechoslovakian foreign resistence was accepted with a greater respect by Allies of World War I and they created the prerequisites for the later support of independent Czechoslovak Republic. Representatives of foreign resistance in the leading position with T.G. Masaryk had much stronger role during the negotatiation, because there was a strong and fast growing army behind them.
